"I just wanted to send you a note about Carl Loughlin. Yesterday morning, while putting my luggage in the trunk at my hotel, I accidentally locked my keys in with the bags. I was staying in Fishkill and I live in Saratoga County. I was planning on spending the day getting a little bit of last minute shopping done and having lunch with a friend but this was sidelined because of my goof. AAA sent someone to open my car but we still couldn't get the keys out of the trunk because we opened it without a key and the trunk wouldn't open. I called the Hyundai dealership in Fishkill but they would have to overnight a copy of the key...wasn't going to work.
By this point I was frantic, but I called your dealership and spoke with Carl. I asked if a copy could be made and he said he could have it made within a matter of minutes because you have the equipment there for that. I was still worried though because I couldn't find a place for the key on the trunk itself but he said he believed that I would at least be able to start the car with the replacement (he went and checked for me with someone else as well). He also gave me some tips about how to possibly open the trunk without the key-they didn't work but he certainly didn't need to do this. I told him I would come up to get the key,even though I wasn't sure I would be able to get in the trunk because it didn't appear to have a place for a key to be used.
"When I got to your dealership, he had the key made for me, and also told me that he had looked at a similar car-same year, same model-and found where the key went for the trunk. He couldn't bring us back to see it because we aren't allowed in the shop but he explained exactly where it would be. He, of course, was right, and once I got back to my car, I was able to open the trunk and retrieve the key chain.
My ex-husband has worked in the car business for several years and I know that car dealerships often have a bad reputation for customer service (he was the used car sales manager for years and that's right up there with life insurance salesman!). Because of this, I just wanted to let you know that I was so pleased with everything Carl did to help me out. The key wasn't even $20 and yet he did everything he could to help me get into my car and go on about my day. It meant so much to me that he was so willing to help, and I just wanted you to know. It was a great experience and I won't forget it! I will be sure to let people know how helpful your dealership was. Please thank Carl for me and have a wonderful holiday!"
